Hugh Jackman has landed the role of Blackbeard in Pan
Jackman has been linked to the role of Blackbeard for some time, but today Warner Bros have announced that the Oscar nominated actor is on board the project.
Sue Kroll, Warner Bros. Pictures Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution president, heaped praise on Jackman in a statement: “There is a reason that Hugh is known and loved the world over.
“He is uncompromising in his dedication to every role, and we are all thrilled to be working with him again.”
Pan will see Joe Wright back in the director’s chair, in what will be his first film since his adaptation of Anna Karenina.
This news comes just days after it was announced that Garrett Hedlund has been announced in the role of Hook - who will take on the role of Peter Pan is yet to be revealed.
The movie is set to explore the early years of Pan when he and Hook were allies. Blackbeard will be the film’s villain.
Jackman will be back on the big screen later this year as he reprises the role of Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past: a film that will see him reunite with director Bryan Singer.
He is currently filming new sci-fi film Chappie; this will be the third film for director Neill Blomkamp.
