Hugh Jackman says that he feel more pressure to get the character of Wolverine right then ever.
The actor is set to reprise the role in The Wolverine this summer and he admits that the more he delves into the story of Logan the more he understands the fan's passion for the character.
The Wolverine is the second stand alone film for the character and the first since X-Men Origins: Wolverine back 2009.
Speaking to Empire the actor said: "The longer I play the character, the more the desire to get him right grows.
"The more I speak to fans and explore his world, the more it means to me. Look, there's no question that it's a great role.
"I didn't fully understand that when I went in, you know? The pressure now is way more. I feel I understand why there's the passion.
"I understand the character and the legacy and I don't feel, up until this movie, that we've completely lived up to that. So that's what I intend to do."
The Wolverine sees Jackman reunite with filmmaker James Mangold as they tackle the popular Japanese story arc for the character.
It has already been a hugely successful year for Jackman as Les Miserables has stormed the global box office.
For his central performance as Jean Valjean he his up for a Best Actor Oscar having already won a Golden Globe for his performance.
The Wolverine is released 26th July.
