Henry Cavill has revealed that he wants to play Superman for ‘many years to come.’
Cavill made his debut as Superman in Man of Steel in the summer of 2013, and is set to reprise the role in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is set to hit the big screen next year.
And it looks like Cavill is planning to stay with the franchise for some time and has not plans in walking away any time soon.
Speaking to website TheAnglophileChannel, the actor said: "I love the character. I love working with Warner Bros. and what they're doing with it, and so fingers crossed I'll be able to tell the story for many, many years to come.
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will see a lot of brand new faces on the cast list - Ben Affleck being the biggest of those names as he takes over the role of Batman for the first time. It will be the first time that we have seen Batman on the big screen since The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012.
The movie will also see Zack Snyder back in the director’s chair for the sequel, and Cavill says that he is excited about what the filmmaker is going to deliver with this film. He continued: "It's Zack Snyder, so it's going to be a visual spectacle, and its cinematic history. Fingers crossed it turns out to be as exciting as I think it is."
As well as Cavill and Affleck on the cast list, Amy Adams and Diane Lane are back, while Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa will be introduced as Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
Filming has wrapped on Dawn of Justice, however, we are going to have to wait over a year before the movie finally hits the big screen.
Cavill will be back on the big screen this summer in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which is based on the sixties television show and will see Guy Ritchie back in the director’s chair. This will be the first time that the actor has teamed up with Ritchie as he takes on the role of Napoleon Solo in the film.
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March 2016.
