Aidan Turner has become the latest name to be thrown into the hat for the role of 007 after reports have emerged that he has held preliminary talks with Bond producers.
Turner has made a name for himself in the last couple of years with roles in The Hobbit and television series Poldark, which is due to return to screens later this year.
But now it seems that the Iris actor could land the biggest role of all as Bond producers have come calling.
A source told The Sun: Aidan has held preliminary talks with Bond producers and being in LA will give him a further chance to discuss the role."
Turner would be the second Irish actor to land the role of 007 and would follow in the footsteps of Pierce Brosnan.
There has been a lot of speculation about who will succeed Daniel Craig in the last twelve months - however, it has not been official announced that Craig is walking away from the role.
Turner's name may now be in the mix, but he is not the frontrunner for the part; at the moment, the favourite tag belongs to Tom Hardy.
Hardy, Idris Elba and Damien Lewis have been linked to the role for some time but Tom Hiddleston is another name that has been added to the ever growing shortlist of late.
The actor, best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel movies, has been winning over audiences with his central role in BBC TV series the Night Manager. The actor has recently said that he would love the chance to tackle the role should it be offered to him.
As for Turner, he has been working on the second series of Poldark and we are going to be seeing him back on the big screen in Look Away, Loving Vincent, and The Secret Scripture.
Daniel Craig took over the role of James Bond back in 2006 with Casino Royale. He has taken the character in a new direction and has played 007 on four occasions. Spectre was his last outing as the super spy last year - the movie has grossed over $880 million at the global box office.
