Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Despite the delay in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters hitting the big screen the movie has toppled Mama from the top of the U.S. box office.

The film sees Jeremy Renner team up with Gemma Arterton in a new take on the classic tale.

Hansel and Gretel took $19 million in its opening weekend to end the one week reign of horror movie Mama.

Mama, which is produced by Guillermo Del Toro and stars Jessica Chastain, fell just a single place to number two while there was no move for Silver Linings Playbook at three.

Jessica Chastain has another movie inside the top five as Zero Dark Thirty fell two places this week to number four - both of her films on the top ten have topped the box office in recent week.

Parker sees Jason Statham return to the big screen as he teams up with Jennifer Lopez. The film was the second new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number give.

Django Unchained was the only movie on the climb this week as it moved up a single place from seven to six.

Movie 43 was the final new entry as the ensemble comedy opened at number seven while Gangster Squad slid four places to eight.

Broken City was also down four this week at nine while Les Miserables fell two places to round off the top ten.
