Hans Zimmer approves of Ben Affleck as the new Batman in the upcoming 'Man of Steel' sequel.

The legendary music composer - who provided the score to Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy, as well as the music for the recent Superman movie starring Henry Cavill - thinks the 'Argo' actor-and-director is a "great choice" to succeed Christian Bale as the caped crusader.

He told Red Carpet News: "I actually think it's a really good choice, because number one, he's a great filmmaker. He's smart. He wouldn't have taken it if he had set himself up for a fall. And, you know, he's a bit older these days and that's what we need. And he's got a good chin!"

Zimmer played coy about his own involvement in the Batman versus Superman movie, however, when quizzed if he would compose the score.

The untitled movie will see Henry Cavill reprise his role as Superman opposite Ben Affleck's Batman.

Cavill's co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are all attached to the film, also.

'Man of Steel' director Zack Snyder is set to helm the film, while screenwriter David S. Goyer has been tapped to write the script.

The movie is due for release in July 2015.
