Hammer's Simon Oakes has reveals cult horror classic 'The Abominable Snowman' is being remade.

Oakes says the green light has been given to re-create the 1957 movie which starred Hammer legend Peter Cushing as a British scientist who leads a trip to the Himalayas to find the mythical yeti with deadly consequences.

Speaking at the premiere of Hammer's new release 'The Quiet Ones' in London on Tuesday evening (01.04.14), Simon spoke about the production company's future plans, saying: "We've got 'The Abominable Snowman' in development; we're rebooting that which is going to be really fun, and also 'The Day Light Gate', which is about witches. We're doing it with Jeanette Winterson who wrote the novel and BBC films."

The new production will be a modern twist on the story, involving an illegal scientific climb up the mountains and the discovery of the yeti that could mean a gruesome end for everyone.

Simon added: "I think we are more about psychological fear and jumpy scares and really engaging audiences with the characters now. We try and make films where you care about the people in them, so you invest in more of the drama."

As CEO of a horror-centred production company, Simon has experienced his fair share of spooky incidents.

He said: " I probably have had supernatural experiences, but how much is my imagination and how much is true I don't know. I think if you want to believe, then you do. I've had a few, in quiet churches on my own in the middle of the night."

Simon was joined on the red carpet by 'The Quiet Ones' stars Sam Claflin, Jared Harris, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne.
