Guy Ritchie has pulled out of directing Lobo to concentrate on filming a sequel to the recent hit Sherlock Holmes.
Lobo is just the latest DC Comic character to get the big screen treatment, following in the footsteps of Batman and Superman.
But now it seems that Ritchie, after the success of his adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, is to focus on the sequel.
Producer Joel Silver told the Los Angeles Times: "I don't think he's going to do [Lobo] now," The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another Sherlock Holmes.
"So I think we're going to be doing that. But we're seeing what happens with this."
Sherlock Holmes brought together Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law and currently sits at number two at the UK box office.
The movie has so far made $389 worldwide and Downey Jr picked up a Golden Globe for his performance.
The sequel has been fast tracked into production by Universal Studios and is the project that they are keen to focus on.
Joel Silver also revealed that Downey Jr and Law wish to reprise their roles as Holmes and Watson but was coy on the casting of Brad Pitt as Professor Moriarty.
"Well, I mean, we talked about [casting Pitt] at one point, but you know as of right now we're not sure what we're going to do. We'll see what happens."
