Guillermo del Toro says that Pacific Rim 2 is not cancelled.
The Pacific Rim sequel is something that seem to have been talked about for the last couple of years but it was reported by THR last year that the project was 'halted indefinitely.'
However, del Toro has taken to Twitter to tell fans that they should not believe all that they read.
Del Toro returned to the director's chair last year with horror film Crimson Peak, which was his first film since the success of Pacific Rim back in 2013.
Despite not being a big hit with the critics when the blockbuster film was released, Pacific Rim went on to gross over $411 million at the global box office.
Ever since Pacific Rim hit the big screen, there has been lots of talk about a sequel and del Toro revealed last year that he has been working on a script for the project.
Del Toro is a filmmaker who always has plenty of projects in the pipeline and he is still linked to a new adaptation of Pinocchio.
As well as talk of Pacific Rim sequel, there seems to be plenty of demand amongst fans for a third Hellboy movie. We were introduced to Hellboy back in 2004, with Hellboy II: The Golden Army released four years later.
It remains to be seen which film project del Toro will work on next and it is not yet clear how long it will be until we see him back in the director's chair.
