Paul Feig has revealed that the only way Bridesmaids II would be made is if it could be as good or better than the first.
There has been talk of a sequel ever since the comedy hit the big screen and enjoyed huge success last summer.
But Kristen Wiig is reportedly not interested in returning to the movie at this point - but Feig hint that a sequel could possibly go ahead without her.
Speaking to E! News the filmmaker said: "If it had to happen, who knows?" Feig said of the sequel. Anything can happen. I'm an optimist."
"The only way we'd want to make it is if it's as good or better than the first one.
"If we could get a script together that was great... I would hope everyone would come back and do it. We have so much fun together."
The movie took over $288 million at the global box office last year as well as being met with great reviews by the critics.
The movie also nominated for two Golden Globes - Best Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Actress Musical or Comedy.
