Glenn Close is in talks to star in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'.

The '101 Dalmatians' actress is reportedly in negotiations to star as a leader of intergalactic space patrol Nova Corp in James Gunn's Marvel film, Deadline.com reports.

Close's possible involvement follows rumours that 'Step Brothers' actor John C. Reilly is being pursued to play Rhomann Dey in the feature, which follows a team of superheroes playing a liaison between the otherworldly crime-fighters and S.H.I.E.L.D., the secret government group seen in previous Marvel movies and led by Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury.

Other stars shortlisted to play Reilly's partner in crime include Alan Rickman, Hugh Laurie and Ken Watanbe.

Actors already on board the project are Chris Pratt as the group's leader, Star-Lord aka Peter Quill; Zoe Saldana as superhuman vixen Gamora; Dave Bautista as burly henchman Drax the Destroyer; and Michael Rooker as Yondu.

However, the parts of crime-fighting animals Rocket Racoon and Wal Russ are yet to be filled.

The film is scheduled to begin filming this summer for an August 2014 release, followed closely by Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers 2' in 2015.

Close recently finished filming indie flick 'Lowdown' and is in the midst of shooting 'Five To Seven' alongside Anton Yelchin and Frank Langella.
