Gillian Anderson says that fans should campaign for a third X-Files movie.
Anderson played Dana Scully in the hit TV series, which has been brought to the big screen on two separate occasions so far.
Anderson and co-star David Duchovny are interested in starring in a third film and are keen for fans to show their support.
She said: "If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be."
Meanwhile, Duchovny added: "All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to 20th Century Fox at this point."
The X Files: I Want to Believe hit the big screen back in 2008 and was the last time that we saw these much loved characters on the big screen.
Anderson has continued to move between TV and film roles recently have starred in The Fall and Hannibal, before moving back to the big screen with Mr Morgan's Last Love and I'll Follow You Down.
She has already completed work on Our Robot Overlords and Sold.
Duchovny has also enjoyed TV success in recent years with Californication, but he is set to return to the big screen with Louder Than Words.
