George Lucas says he has not yet spoken to J.J. Abrams about Star Wars.
Abrams is set to take over the director's chair for Star Wars VII - the first of three new films in the franchise.
And while Lucas is yet to speak with Abrams about the new movie the director says that the project is going well.
Speaking to Access Hollywood the director said: "I have not spoken to JJ. He's been busy with Star Trek, and I'm sure that he'll let me know when he's got some questions.
"So, you know, that's all going well. [Kathleen Kennedy] tells me it's working out great."
Star Wars VII will be the first Star Wars movie since Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012.
The new movie is expected to hit the big screen in 2015 with two further movie penciled in for 2017 and 2019.
While the likes of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher have all be linked to roles in the film an official cast list is yet to be announced.
