George Clooney believes that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences needs a shake up to become more diverse.
A study released last week revealed that 94% of Oscar voters are white while 77% of them are male.
Clooney was nominated for Best Actor once again this year for his role in The Descendants and he believes that changes are needed.
When asked on the red carpet by the Los Angeles Times if the Academy Awards needed a shakeup the actor said: That would be a good idea, don't you think?
"I think it represents directors in Hollywood, as well. It represents not just Hollywood.
"You can look at the Senate and it's roughly the same thing. I don't think to diversify is ever a bad idea.
"It's a tricky thing. I think you'd have to open it up to more, as opposed to trying to kick people out. Instead of taking their cards away."
Clooney lost out on the Best Actor gong to Jean Dujardin, he has lost out for Michael Clayton and Up In The Air in recent years.
The Descendants walked away with the Best Adapted Screenplay prize but missed out on Best Picture and Best Director.
