The 72-year-old actress - who plays Bridget's mum in 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason' - wants the producers of the hit film adaptations of Helen Fielding's novels to hurry up and make the third instalment before she and the 65-year-old actor who plays Bridget's dad get too old.

Speaking at the British Academy Television Awards at London's Theatre Royal, she said: "I bumped into Jim Broadbent the other day and said, 'If they don't hurry up and make a third we'll both be on our Zimmer frames!' "

The 'Marvellous' star also revealed she was horrified to learn Mr. Darcy, who was played by Colin Firth in the movies, was killed off in the time between the second and third books and hopes he'll somehow be reincarnated in the next big-screen version.

She told Radio Times magazine: "I rather hope he might come back from the dead."

Meanwhile, Firth himself previously admitted he'd like to continue his involvement in the franchise despite his character's ugly fate.

He said earlier this year: "It would have to have somewhere to go. Back at the time, I said that a third one should only happen if we were telling a story about having moved into a different generation when we were all beginning to deteriorate a little bit. I think we might be ready for that moment."

And the author herself even hinted Darcy could be set to make a return, with Fielding saying: "It's possible. Remember the latest James Bond movie, 'Skyfall', when 007 fakes his own death? And in 'Kill Bill 2', Uma Thurman is buried and digs her way out. These are all good ideas - you'll have to watch out."
