Gemma Arterton says she loved the opportunity to tackle a darker role in The Voices.
Arterton was on the red carpet in London as The Voices premiered at Sundance London over the weekend.
The actress admits that she has always wanted to take on a darker part, and was thrilled to finally get the opportunity.
Speaking to the Press Association on the red carpet, the actress said: "I love all things bizarre and dark but I never ever get offered things like that.
"So I read it and thought, 'This is the sort of thing that I love'. I thought it was so funny and very moving.
"And then when Ryan came on board I just thought 'wow!' Just watching him on set was like 'wow!'"
The Voices sees Arterton team up with filmmaker Marjane Satrapi for the first time, while Anna Kendrick, Ryan Reynolds and Jacki Weaver are also on board.
The Voices is just one of the movies that we will be seeing Arterton in this year, as she has also completed work on Gemma Bovery.
No UK release date for The Voices has yet been announced.
