Gemma Arterton says that playing Idris Elba's wife in their latest movie was 'weird' because they are such good friends.
Arterton and Elba have teamed up for new film A Hundred Streets, which sees the pair team up with director Jim O'Hanlon.
But the actress says that it was an odd experience, especially when Elba would tease her about what their children would look like.
Speaking to Glamour magazine, the actress said: "Idris and I are good mates - so it was weird to play husband and wife, especially when he'd play husband and wife, especially when he'd point to the young actors playing our children and say, 'That's what our kids would look like, Gem.' "
A Hundred Streers will mark the first feature film for director O'Hanlon, and will also see Emma Rigby, Ken Scott and Kierston Wareing are also on board.
As for Arterton, she made her musical debut in Made in Dagenham in the West End, and revealed that she has always wanted to take on a musical role.
She continued: "I've always wanted to do a musical. Always. I sang when I was younger and that went out of the window when I went to drama school.
"I've been offered a few musicals before but it just didn't feel right. I wanted to do something that nobody else had sung yet.
"I just don't want to be compared to somebody who has sung it better. I've not got the most amazing voice but I don't think Rita would have either."
Heading into 2015, Arterton is going to be very busy as she has been linked to movies Red and Grays and The Keys to the Street.
