Gary Oldman says that Ben Affleck should not listen to any of the fan negativity about his Batman casting.
Affleck will take over the role of Batman from Christian Bale as the character is set to return to the big screen in Batman vs. Superman: which is the sequel to Man of Steel.
And while Affleck’s casting has caused uproar amongst Batman fans, Oldman thinks the actor is going to do a good job.
Speaking to E! Online, the actor said: "He's got a hard cowl to climb into because I thought Christian had made such a signature on it, but Ben is a wonderful actor, so I'm intrigued to see what he does.
"If you listen to the fans all the time we wouldn't have remade Robocop. No-one would have made Batman. Ben will do fine. I think he'll do fine."
Affleck will team up with director Zack Snyder for Batman vs. Superman, while Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Clark Kent. Gal Gadot is also on board, as she will take on the role of Wonder Woman.
As for Oldman, he is back on the big screen at the moment with RoboCop, which is a remake of the popular eighties action film.
He will be back in another blockbuster project later this year, as he is part of the all-star cast of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which comes three years after the huge success of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Batman vs. Superman is already a highly anticipated film, but it will not be released until May 2016 in the UK.
