Gary Oldman has hinted that he mat be reprising the role of George Smiley.
He picked up a Best actor Oscar for his role in Cold War thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, losing out to Jean Dujardin, but he has suggested that Smiley's people may be adapted for the big screen.
Speaking to BBC One Breakfast the actor said: "I'm glad that [the nomination] was [for] Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and we're very proud of the film.
"But we may be doing Smiley's People, so I might get another go at it."
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, written by John Le Carre, was a big hit critically and at the box office when it was released last year - Oldman's performance earning his huge praise.
The Oscar nomination was the first of his career and he was on the red carpet in L.A. on Sunday night.
He was in the Best Actor category alongside Dujardin, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Demian Bichir.
Oldman is set to return to the big screen this summer as he reprises the role of Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises.
