Foxcatcher

Foxcatcher

Foxcatcher is a movie that has already been winning over the critics on the festival circuit, and is set to be one of the early ‘must see’ movies of 2015 as Bennett Miller returns to the director’s chair.

Miller has already made a name for himself with Capote and Moneyball, but Foxcatcher is being tipped as his best work. I am a huge fan of Miller’s first works and it is exciting to know that a new film of his is on the horizon.

Foxcatcher boasts an impressive cast as Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Sienna Miller, and Vanessa Redgrave all star. Carell takes on the central role of John du Pont in what is a completely different role for the actor.

We are so use to seeing Carell take on comedy roles, but this time around, his dramatic performance could well change the direction of his acting career. He is already being tipped as a possible Best Actor Oscar contender - and we all know how much the Academy loves a biopic performance: there could be quite a few in the running next year.

As well as Carell being in the Oscar mix next year, don’t be surprised to see Tatum, Ruffalo, Miller and the movie itself all battling it out for the major gongs. Could Foxcatcher be one of the big winners at next year’s Oscars?

Based on shocking true events, Foxcatcher is a psychological thriller, which tells the fascinating story of Olympic gold medal-winning brothers Mark and Dave Schultz and their tragic relationship with a multi-millionaire benefactor, John du Pont.

Foxcatcher is released 9th January 2015.
