Andrea Arnold is set to return to the director's chair with her latest film American Honey and actress Sasha Lane features in the first image from the movie.
American Honey is the fourth feature film for Arnold and comes five years since her last directorial outing with Wuthering Heights .
Arnold is one of the most exciting female filmmakers around with Red Road and Fish Tank already under her belt. As well as being in the director's chair, Arnold has also penned the film's screenplay.
Sasha Lane is set to take on the central role of Star in the film and is joined on the cast list by Shia LaBeouf, Riley Keough, McCaul Lombardi, and Arielle Holmes.
Arnold has a knack for uncovering new acting talent and she has done it again with Sasha Lane. American Honey will be her acting debut.
Star (Lane), a teenage girl from a troubled home runs away with a travelling sales crew that drives across the American mid-west selling magazine subscriptions door to door.
Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group's lifestyle of hard partying, law-bending and young love.
The filmmaker will be heading to the Cannes Film Festival with American Honey, where it will screen in competition in the Official Selection.
Arnold has enjoyed huge success at Cannes in the past, winning the Cannes Jury Prize for both Fish Tank and Red Road. The filmmaker also served on the festival's competition jury in 2012.
The 2016 edition of the Cannes International Film Festival runs from 11 to 22 May.
