Finding Dory has become the fourth highest grossing film of 2016.
So far, Finding Dory has been a critical hit and has grossed in excess of $897.4 million at the global box office; surpassing the total of $872 million of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Finding Dory marks the return of Dory, Nemo, and Marlin, thirteen years since we were introduced to them for the first time in Finding Nemo.
Finding Nemo went on to gross $936.7 million at the box office and Finding Dory could still go on to surpass its predecessor.
The movie marks the return of Andrew Stanton to the director's chair while Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks are back as Dory and Marlin.
The filmmaker assembled a fantastic voice cast as Diane Keaton, Idris Elba, Dominic West, Ed O'Neill, Eugene Levy, and Hayden Rolence are just some of the names on board.
2016 has been a hugely successful year for Disney as Finding Dory is just the latest box office hit for them.
The studio now has the four highest grossing films of 2016; Captain America: Civil War, Zootropolis, The Jungle Book and Finding Dory.
Civil War and Zootropolis are the only films to have grossed over $1 billion so far this year, while The Jungle Book took $947 million worldwide. Finding Dory is on course to hit $900 million and could challenge The Jungle Book for that third spot.
Finding Dory continues on the Pixar success of 2015, where Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur were both big hits. Inside Out went on to win the Best Animated Feature Oscar and Finding Dory could well do the same at the beginning of next year.
Finding Dory is out now.
