Fast & Furious 7 is currently the highest grossing movie of 2015 so far and the fourth highest grossing movie of time, but it looks like Vin Diesel is already looking forward to the future.

There has been a lot of talk about the future of the franchise after the huge success of Fast 7 - and whether it would continue without Paul Walker.

However, it looks like an eighth movie could well be in the pipeline as Diesel took to Instagram to post this teaser of a New York backdrop.

Fast & Furious 7 hit the big screen at the beginning of April and has so far grossed $1.5 billion at the global box office.

It is currently the fourth highest grossing movie of all time behind Avatar, Titanic, and Avengers Assemble - but it is closing in on the $1,518 billion grossed by the Marvel movie.

A 2017 release date for the movie seems to have been set but no director has currently been linked to the film.

James Wan was in the director's chair for the seventh instalment, but he has a sequel for The Conjuring in the pipeline and has been linked to the Aquaman solo film.

Justin Lin - who has directed many of the other films in the series - seems unlikely as she is set to helm Star Trek 3.
