A new image of Evangeline Lilly in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has been released.
The actress is set to take on the role elf warrior Tauriel in the film, the character will not only be a new addition to the cast list in the second film but also a character that is not in the book.
Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillippa Boyens have created the character of Tauriel especially for the film.
Entertainment Weekly have debut the image and talked to the actress about the film: "Tauriel is the head of the Elven Guard. She’s a Sylvan Elf, which means she’s of a much lower order than the elves we all became acquainted with in The Lord of the Rings.
"She doesn’t hold the same kind of status that Arwen or Galadriel or Elrond or Legolas do - she’s much more lowly. She sort of goes against the social order of the elves a little bit."
The film will see Martin Freeman return as Bilbo Baggins while Richard Armitage and Ian McKellan are also back.
But Lilly is not the only new face on the cast list as Luke Evans is set to play Bard the Bowman while benedict Cumberbatch will bring dragon Smaug to life.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
