Eva Green says she has always been interested in taking on complex roles.
Green is set to return to the big screen this week as she takes on the role of Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire - the latest of Frank Miller’s graphic novels to be adapted for the big screen.
And while the complexities of Artemisia may have been a draw from Green, she admits that she has always wanted to tackle an action role.
Speaking to Empire, the actress said: I just always like complex roles, and characters who have a secret, or something beneath the surface. She is the baddie of the film. But there’s more to her than that. She’s a dream really.
“As a little girl I always wanted to play action, so that’s why I’m doing this. It’s very strong, very sexy, very cool, very daring.”
300: Rise of an Empire is the first big screen outing for Green this year, and sees her star alongside Lena Headey, Sullivan Stapleton and Rodrigo Santoro.
We are going to be seeing plenty of Green on the big screen this year, as she has already completed work on White Bird in a Blizzard, The Salvation and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
We are also going to see her on the small screen in Penny Dreadful. The horror series has been created by John Logan and will see Green star alongside Timothy Dalton and Josh Hartnett.
300: Rise of an Empire is released 7th March.
