Erich Bergen thanks Clint Eastwood for giving him confidence as an actor.
Eastwood will return to the director's chair for an adaptation of hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys, and he has cast theatre actors in the lead roles.
Bergen is set to return to the role Bob Gaudio, while John Lloyd Young, Michael Lomenda and Vincent Piazza are on board as Frankie Valli, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito.
And Bergen reveals that Eastwood was very trusting in his actors and gave them lots of confidence to work in film.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor said: "I think what he really taught me was to have confidence as an actor, because especially as a theatre actor, you're micromanaged a lot because there's set pieces coming in and there's lights and sound and you have to make sure you do the exact same thing in the performance every single night.
"And when it came time to do the film, he was much more open and wanted me to trust my best instincts. He got me to do that, and I'm forever grateful to him because of that."
Jersey Boys is biggest film role of Bergen's career so far, and only his second feature film.
Jersey Boys follows the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Season and their rise to fame.
Jersey Boys is released 20th June.
