Emilia Clarke has landed the role of Sarah Connor in new film Terminator Genesis.
Terminator Genesis is the fifth film in the Terminator series and the first film since Terminator Salvation.
According to Deadline, Clarke was up against Brie Larson for the role but impressed producers at Skydance Productions, Annapurna Pictures and Paramount Pictures to land the iconic part played by Linda Hamilton in previous films.
Clarke is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in hit TV series Game of Thrones, but Terminator Genesis would be the biggest movie of her career.
Alan Taylor, who helmed Thor: The Dark World, will be in the director's chair for the film. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier have penned the screenplay.
Jason Clarke has been linked the role of John Connor in the film, while Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return.
As for Emilia Clarke we have seen her on the big screen this year in Spike Island and Dom Hemingway.
We will see her back on the small screen next year as the fourth series of Game of Thrones airs.
Terminator Genesis is set for a 2015 release.
