DeGeneres is back as the forgetful fish for the first time since the huge success of Finding Nemo back in 2003.

And while she admits that she was nervous about returning and worried if she would be able to find the character's voice, she is overjoyed to be returning to the role.

Speaking on the red carpet at the UK premiere over the weekend, DeGeneres said: "I was worried that I would even have Dory still in me. Once I got in the studio, it was pretty easy to get that voice and that character.

"The writing is just so good and the story is sweet, emotional, funny and everything that you want from the film. I am just thrilled."

The film sees DeGeneres reunite with filmmaker Andrew Stanton - in what is his first Pixar film since Wall-E. DeGeneres also works with Albert Brooks once again, as he returns as Marlin.

A fantastic voice cast has been assembled for the film as Ed O'Neill, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Idris Elba, and Dominic West are some of the other people on board.

Finding Dory comes over a decade after the huge critical and commercial success of Finding Nemo, which grossed over $936 million at the global box office.

Finding Dory has already topped the U.S. box office and has grossed over $642 million worldwide. However, there are still a couple of weeks to go until the film is released here in the UK.

Finding Dory is released 29th July.
