Elizabeth Banks looks set to direct Pitch Perfect 3.
Banks made her feature film directorial debut earlier this year when she directed the hugely successful sequel.
Banks was no stranger to the franchise having appeared in the first film as Gail - a role that she reprised in Pitch Perfect 2. But she took over the helm from Jason Moore to deliver and even bigger movie that first time around.
During the promotional tour, Banks said that a third film was a possibility and now Variety have reported that she will be back in the director's chair.
Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are also on board the project to reprise their roles as Beca and Fat Amy. At the moment, it is unclear who else will be returning to the franchise and there is no word on any new names that may be on the cast list.
It was back in 2012 when Pitch Perfect hit the big screen for the first time, becoming one of the sleeper hits of the year. The movie grossed over $115 million - not bad for a film made for just $17 million - and a sequel did seem inevitable.
Pitch Perfect 2 was one of the most anticipated films of the summer and was a bigger box office hit; grossing over $285 million at the global box office.
Pitch Perfect 3 already has a 4th August 2017 UK release date and filming is expected to get underway next year.
As for Banks, she will be back on the big screen this autumn with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, where she will reprise the role of Effie Trinket for the final time.
Mockingjay - Part 2 is the fourth and final film in the popular The Hunger Games franchise and is promising to be the biggest instalment yet. It also looks set to go on to be one of the most successful movies of the year.
