Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of 'Power Rangers'.
Banks will star as a villain, Rita Repulsa the alien witch, in the big-screen reboot of the television show.
A message on the movie's official Instagram page read: "Big news! @ElizabethBanks joins the cast of @PowerRangersMovie as the villainous #RitaRepulsa. Let the countdown to 2017 begin!"
And Elizabeth tweeted: "After 10,000 years, I'm free! It's time to conquer Earth!! Time to play #RitaRepulsa #PowerRangersMovie."
She joins a cast of relative unknowns for the movie, which is being directed by Dean Israelite.
The movie stars Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger.
It reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a group of high-school teenagers who receive extraterrestrial powers and come together to save the world.
The TV series previously inspired a movie, the 1995 flick 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'.
