Elijah Wood says he knows that the character of Frodo Baggins will be with him for the rest of his life.
While Wood had done plenty of work before landing the role of Frodo in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it was the film series that rocketed him to superstardom.
He has also taken on a wide range of roles since the success of the Lord of the Rings a decade ago, but it will be the character that he will forever be associated with.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, the actor said: "I've done ten years of other movies. But 'The Lord of the Rings' will be with me for the rest of my life, I'd be a fool not to recognise that."
Wood reprised the role of Frodo in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey two years ago, and is expected to make a final appearance in The Battle of the Five Armies next month.
The Battle of the Five Armies will be the final instalment of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, and is set to be the biggest film in the series.
As for Wood, he returns to the big screen this week as he stars in Set Fire to the Stars alongside Celyn Jones and Kelly Reilly.
And there is no rest for the actor as he is currently filming The Last Witch Hunter with Vin Diesel and Rose Leslie. Directed by Breck Eisner, The Last Witch Hunter is set to hit the big screen next year.
