E.L. James says is 'terrified' at the prospect of her novel Fifty Shades of Grey being adapted for the big screen.

Fifty Shades of Grey is already one of the most talked about films, and not a single frame has been shot.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, James said: "I'm terrified. Completely. I've been terrified from the moment I published the book.

"My mother was terrified of everything, and so am I. It's a terrible way to grow up. You don't expect this kind of success.

"Even now it floors me. My only ambition for the books was to see them in bookstores. This is huge. And there is this passionate fandom; we need to get this right for them."

Sam Taylor-Wood will be in the director's chair for the film, while Kelly Marcel has adapted the novel into a screenplay.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are on board as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes and Jennifer Ehle are also set to star.

There was one new addition to the cast list this week in the form of Max Martini; he will play Grey's bodyguard Jason Taylor.

Fifty Shades of Grey was set to be released next summer, but has now been pushed back to 2015.
