2015 has been a major breakthrough year for actor Taron Egerton and the next twelve months are going to be even bigger as he returns to the big screen with Eddie The Eagle.
Eddie The Eagle is based on the inspirational tale of Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, who became Great Britain's first Olympic ski-jumper. The film sees Egerton take on the central role of Eddie as he teams up with filmmaker Dexter Fletcher for the first time.
We are going to have to wait until April for the film to hit the big screen, but the first look UK trailer has dropped. Check it out:
I have always been a fan of Dexter as an actor, but I am an even bigger fan of him as a director. He has already brought us films such as Wild Bill and Sunshine on Leith and this is his third feature film in the director's chair. I cannot wait to see what he delivers as he tackles the biopic for the first time.
Eddie The Eagle doesn't just mark the return of Egerton, but the film is also the next project for Hugh Jackman - who plays Eddie's trainer Bronson Peary.
Egerton and Jackman are joined on the cast list by Jo Hartley, Tim McInnery, Keith Allen, Iris Berban, Rune Temte, Christopher Walken, and Jim Broadbent.
Eddie the Eagle follows the realisation of the childhood dream of Michael Edwards (a.k.a Eddie), and his unflinching determination to become Great Britain's first Olympic ski-jumper.
Reluctantly aided by former ski-jumper Bronson Peary as his coach, Eddie is unwavering in his quest to reach the 1988 Calgary Winter Games. Eddie the Eagle is an uplifting, inspirational story that celebrates the human spirit, passion, and one man's refusal to accept defeat.
Eddie The Eagle is released 1st April 2016.
