Eddie Redmayne has joined the latest Nick Park movie Early Man.
The Oscar-winning actor is set to lend his voice to the character of Dug as he teams up with the British filmmaker and Aardman for the first time.
Early Man continues the production partnership between Aardman and Sudiocanal following the success of Shaun the Sheep Movie. It will also be the first time that we have seen Park in the director's chair since The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Speaking about the casting of Redmayne, the director said: "Not only is Eddie a joy to work with, his versatility and boundless energy have really helped to bring my new character to life. He embodies the cheeky charm, fun and plucky wit of Dug and I'm sure he'll get along brilliantly with Dug's sidekick Hognob."
Redmayne is the only member of the cast list to have been announced so for.
Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of how plucky caveman Dug, along with sidekick Hognob unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game.
2016 has already been a hugely successful year for Redmayne with The Danish Girl under his belt - a performance that saw him pick up a second consecutive Best Actor Oscar nomination.
He will be back on the big screen later this year with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is based on the book by J.K. Rowling.
Early Man is set for a 26th January 2018 release.
