Eddie Redmayne found shooting his nude scenes for his new movie 'Danish Girl' incredibly "embarrassing."
Redmayne may have 16 successful blockbusters under his belt but he has admitted he was still riddled with anxiety when he had to strip off in front of a whole crew of cameramen and women for his role as transgender Lili Elbe.
Speaking to Details magazine, he said: "Any time you get naked in front of a crew, it's embarrassing."
In one particular scene, the handsome star has to peel off his trousers and tuck his manhood through his legs.
He explained: "It's not as if we as actors have some way of becoming comfortable with it. It would be exactly like you getting naked in front of 30 people."
Redmayne has admitted he was initially sceptical when he landed the role of Lili - who became the first person to undergo sex-reassignment surgery in 1931 - but was able to get an insight into how transgender people are treated.
He explained: "Just walking onto a set filled with men, watching the difference in how you're treated, or the scrutiny ...the gaze was overwhelming. A lot of the women I worked with said, 'Yeah ...welcome to our world.' "
The 'Danish Girl' is set for release on November 27.
