Ed Harris said he really wanted to be a part of Snowpiercer after seeing some of director Joon-ho Bong's previous work.
The actor is set to star alongside Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton as director Bong makes his English speaking directorial debut.
Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I saw three of director Bong’s movies and I said, 'I want to do this. I don’t care what he’s asking me to do because he’s a really great filmmaker.'
"His friend and fellow filmmaker is director Park, who did Stoker. I met director Park when I was in Prague.
"He came by the set and actually produced director Bong’s film. He seemed like a really interesting guy, and Oldboy just blew me away."
The movie is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette and will see Jamie Bell, John Hurt and Octavia Spencer all also on the cast list.
And we will be seeing plenty of Ed Harris this year as he is also set to star in Michael Bay's new film Pain & Gain and Look of Love.
The actor is currently filming Frontera with Michael Pena and Eva Longoria.
