Dwayne Johnson has signed up to star and produce Not Without Hope.
The movie is based on the memoir of former football player Nick Schuyler and will see Johnson team up with Relativity Media to bring it to the big screen.
According to Variety, Relativity Media will produce and finance the film and Johnson has landed a producer's credit, along with his manager and ex-wife Dany Garcia.
The movie will follow the harrowing ordeal of Schuyler and three friends - including NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, as well as his best friend Will Bleakley - when they found themselves struggling to survive in the Gulf of Mexico while on a fishing trip.
Johnson is currently filming Fast & Furious 7 where he will be reprising the role of Luke Hobbs - a role that we saw him return to this summer.
He has already completed work on Hercules - where he will take on the title role. Brett Ratner was in the director's chair for the film and they have just wrapped.
Johnson has also been linked to Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon, where he may reprise the role of Hank.
It has been a busy year for the actor as he has enjoyed success with G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain and Fast & Furious 6.
