Dwayne Johnson says Hercules is a man who accepts who he is.
Johnson is back on the big screen this week as he takes on the title role in Hercules: a movie that sees Brett Ratner back in the director's chair.
Johnson believes that accepting who he is, gives Hercules his power.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the actor said: "I think at his core, the idea and the notion that he accepts who he is ... he accepts the man who he was born to be. I think that type of notion is profound to all of us whether we're men or women.
"But it's that power that we have ... the most powerful person you can be is yourself and it takes us a long time to get there and in this case it's taken Hercules thousands of years, but he still got there."
Hercules marks the first time that Johnson has teamed up with Ratner, while starring alongside Ian McShane, John Hurt, and Rufus Sewell.
This is the first film of the year for Johnson, but he has also completed work on Fast & Furious 7, and is currently filming San Andreas.
Hercules is released 25th July.
