The movie studio has announced plans to make another movie in the franchise, the most successful of which was the original in 1994 that featured the voices of Rowan Atkinson and Jeremy Irons.

Disney said: "The movie follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands."

'The Lion Guard: Return Of The Roar' will continue the story from where the last movie left it and will act as a precursor to the 'Lion Guard' TV series.

James Earl Jones is returning to voice Mufasa, while Matthew Broderick is to be replaced by Rob Lowe as Simba.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported Disney is developing a live-action 'Sword in the Stone' movie.

The remake of the 1963 animated film is being penned by 'Game of Thrones' writer Bryan Cogman, with Brigham Taylor set to produce the movie.

Disney has also scheduled other classics, including 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'The Jungle Book', which has a cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong'o and Bill Murray.
