Denzel Washington says that 2 Guns was really appealing to him because he was looking to do something completely different to Flight.
The Oscar winning actor returns to the big screen this summer with the Baltasar Kormakur directed film, which sees him team up with Mark Wahlberg for the first time.
And Washington says that being Wahlberg on the cast list was another big reason why he got involved with the film.
Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "I wanted to do something totally different from Flight. Finding out Mark was attached to it was the icing on the cake.
"I’d seen his work and I’d been sniffing around films with humour, but I didn’t want to carry one, so this was the perfect two hander with someone I knew, who really knew how to do it."
The film sees Washington play a DEA agent while Wahlberg is an undercover Naval Intelligence offer who have been set up by the mob.
2 Guns is the second movie of the year for Washington as he starred in Flight, a movie for which he picked up another Best Actor Oscar nomination.
He is set to begin work on The Equalizer, a movie that would see him reunite with director Antoine Fuqua.
2 Guns is released 16th August.
