The Deadpool project is moving forward at quite a pace and Reynolds admits that he is happy with the way that things have come together of late and the director that's on board.

Reynolds will be reprising the role of Deadpool in the film, which has been a project a long time in the pipeline. However, there is just under a year to go before the film hits the big screen.

Speaking to ShortList Magazine, the actor said: "I'm incredibly happy about it, we've got a director that understands that world, and writers with a lavish devotion to the canon of that character.

"That's the most important aspect: it's made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that's the hope. It's been a long time, but it's happened in the right way and that's all that matters.

"We don't have the kind of money that most superhero movies do, but that's great, actually. Necessity is the mother of invention, and that's why we get to make the movie we want to make."

Tim Miller is set to make his feature film directorial debut with the movie, while Gina Carano and Morena Baccarin are two of the other cast members that have been revealed.

Reynolds took on the role of Wade Wilson for the first time in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009 - ever since his appearance in that movie there has been talk of a Deadpool solo film. After what will be a seven year wait, fans will finally get their wish.

As for Reynolds, he will be back on the big screen next week as he stars alongside Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick in black comedy The Voices. He has also completed work on Self/less, Criminal, and Woman in Gold.

Deadpool is released 12th February 2016.
