David Frankel said that it was Harvey Weinstein who suggested James Corden for his new film One Chance.
One Chance sees Frankel return to the director’s in a movie that as based on the life and success of Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts.
Frankel was on the red carpet in Leicester Square for the European premier last night the rest of the cast.
Speaking to FemaleFirst on the red carpet he said: “I was looking for someone great that the audience, especially didn’t know. Harvey Weinstein came over and saw 1 Man 2 Guvnors in the West End, and said ‘what about this guy James Corden? He is amazing.’ So I came over.
“I was actually familiar with James’ work and he was brilliant in 1 Man 2 Guvnors. He was really the only guy that we ever talked to.”
Frankel has been behind movies such as The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me, and sees him return to the director’s chair for the first time since Hope Springs.
He has brought together a great cast as Corden is joined on the cast list by Julie Walters and Colm Meaney.
One Chance is released 25th October.
