David Barron says that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will present the title character in a way that we have never seen before.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will reboot the Jack Ryan franchise as director Kenneth Branagh delivers an origins story for this popular literary character.
Producer Barron was on the red carpet at the European premiere in London earlier this week where he chatted about the film.
Speaking exclusively to FemaleFirst, he said: "It is an origins story, and so it is presenting him in a way that he has never previously been presented.
"Obviously, we are drawing on all of the Tom Clancy and the previous film’s character traits to try and create our Jack Ryan. It is the right time for a character like this.
"He is a different kind of action hero as he is an Everyman. He is an ordinary guy who becomes a CIA agent entirely accidentally really."
Barron was joined on the red carpet by actors Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and director Kenneth Branagh.
Barron is a long time collaborator of Branagh's, and has also teamed up with the actor/director for Cinderella.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is released 24th January.
