Will Smith says that director David Ayer has created a 'gigantic world' and a 'Batman world' in Suicide Squad.
Smith is set to take on the role of Deadshot as Suicide Squad comes to the big screen for the first time this summer.
Suicide Squad is already one of the most anticipated films of 2016 and will see Ayer tackle the first comic book film of his career. The movie will also see Smith and Ayer team up for the first time.
And while the movie may look fantastic, Smith says that Ayer has very much focused on the characters.
Speaking to Comic Book, Smith said: "David Ayer, he's created this big, gigantic world - this Batman world. But he was also only focused on the characters.
"So, to do the level of character work that he was willing to do with understanding an assassin and then how that assassin interacts with the Joker and Harley Quinn... It was a great... It wasn't just fun in terms of the little boy elements of running around, jumping, and shooting. It was fun to treat Deadshot like a real person."
Suicide Squad is the first time that we have seen Smith on the big screen since the success of Concussion. He is part of a terrific ensemble cast as Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney are also on board.
2016 is set to be a busy year for Smith as he is currently filming Collateral Beauty alongside Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, and Edward Norton.
Suicide Squad is released 5th August.
