Danny Boyle is believed to be in talks to direct a biopic about Steve Jobs.
David Fincher was all set to direct the project, until it was announced that he was stepping down from the role last week.
Sony is now keen that the Oscar winning filmmaker: no deals are yet in place and Sony and the director are just in talks about the prospect of working together.
The biopic will chronicle the life of the Apple co-founder, whose forward-thinking led to technological advances such as the iPhone and iPad.
The script has been penned by Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the hugely successful The Social Network. The movie will be also be produced by Scott Rudin.
It is also believed that Boyle is keen to cast Leonardo DiCaprio in the central role of Steve Jobs. This would be the second time that they have worked together: the first being The Beach.
Boyle has reached out to DiCaprio, but it seems there could be some conflict as the 'Wolf of Wall Street' star has already committed to filming Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu-directed thriller 'The Revenant' in September.
Boyle returned to the director’s chair last year with Trance - his first directorial outing since the huge success of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Boyle - who won Best Director for his adaptation of Slumdog Millionaire - is also attached to Porno: which would be his second adaptation of an Irvine Welsh novel.
It has not been announced when filming on the Steve Jobs project could get underway.
