Danny Boyle is currently in the process of adapting 'Smash and Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers' for his new project.
'Smash and Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers' is a documentary by Havana Marking and has caught the attention of the Oscar winner.
This will be the next big screen project for Boyle as he turns the documentary into a heist/thriller film.
The Pink Panthers were a gang who stole over £276 million worth of jewels in 341 robberies.
Variety have revealed that Boyle will team up with his producing partner Christian Colson, while Pathe and Fox Searchlight are set to co-finance the film.
Boyle returned the director's chair earlier this year with thriller Trance: a movie that saw him team up with James McAvoy.
Trance was the first film for Boyle since the success of 127 Hours, after he took time out to concentrate out on the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Boyle has also been linked to Porno, which would see him tackle another Irvine Welsh adaptation.
