Daniel Radcliffe says he felt he has had to work hard to prove that he is a good actor and has not just got where he is because of Harry Potter.
The actor will be back on the big screen this autumn with Kill Your Darlings as he continues to move away from his Harry Potter image.
Speaking to the New York Times he said: "I have a massive chip on my shoulder.
"When you fall into something at age 11 and get paid incredible amounts of money for your entire teenage years for doing a job anyone would want, there is a part of you that thinks everybody is just saying, 'He got there because he fell into it; he's not really an actor'."
"I feel it less nowadays," he said. "It has taken a long time to feel like I've earned the place that I'm at."
Kill Your Darlings has been lighting up the festival circuit, and will be screening at the BFI London Film Festival later this month.
Kill Your Darlings is just one of the projects that Radcliffe has on the horizon as he has also completed work on Horns and The F Word.
John Krokidas will make his feature film directorial debut with Kill Your Darlings, and it will be the first film for Radcliffe since the success of Woman In Black.
