The movie will chronicle the life of Gertrude Bell who was a writer and a traveller and a political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century.
Nicole Kidman will take on the role of Bell in the movie, while Werner Herzog will be in the director's chair.
According to Deadline.com Lewis stars as an English war hero, Lieutenant colonel Charles Doughty-Wylie, who begins an affair with Bell.
Lewis is currently enjoying further success with Homeland as the third series has just hit TV screen.

The British actor is currently filming The Silent Storm: the film has been written and directed by Corinna McFarlane.
Queen of the Desert is set to star shooting in December and will be hitting the big screen in 2015.
