Damian Lewis is in final talks to star in 'Ocean's Eight'.
The 'Homeland' actor is in negotiations to portray the movie's villain and the former lover of Sandra Bullock's lead character, who is in charge of a girl gang who attempt to pull off a major heist at the Met Gala.
The 45-year-old star was thought to be set for a small part in the film after he was spotted on set in recent weeks, but sources have confirmed to Variety that Lewis will have more than a cameo in the motion picture.
Gary Ross will direct the movie, a female spin-off of 2001's 'Ocean's Eleven', which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Andy García.
The 'Ocean's Eight' all-star line-up includes Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson and US rapper Awkwafina.
Ross will produce the motion picture alongside 'Ocean's Eleven' director Steven Soderbergh, and Susan Ekins will executive produce.
Damon - who played pickpocket Linus Caldwell in the 2001 movie - previously revealed he has landed a cameo role in 'Ocean's Eight'.
He said: "I'm doing a little bit in the movie. I haven't read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I'm excited to see what those women do with it. It's going to be fun."
The 46-year-old actor recently admitted he has high hopes for the movie.
He said: "I think it's going to be awesome. "They're going to kick ass."
