Ridley has been one of a number of actresses linked to the role of Lara Croft as a new Tomb Raider movie is in the pipeline.

Now the British actress has confirmed that she has had 'conversations' with film bosses about the prequel and is keen to be involved with the film.

Speaking to 'The Hollywood Reporter' at the Jameson Empire Awards in London, she said: "There have been conversations [with the producers and bosses] but I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it.'"

Tomb Raider came to the big screen for the first time back in 2001 with Angelina Jolie in the lead role as Croft; she reprised the role two years later in The Cradle of Life.

Since then, there has been a lot of talk about bringing the computer game character back to the big screen. It has now been revealed that they will focus on a younger Lara.

At the moment, nothing is known about the plot but Roar Uthaug is in the director's chair for the project; he has brought us films such as The Wave and Escape in recent years.

As for Ridley, we have seen her star rocket since the took on the role or Rey in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, which went on to gross over $2 billion and was met with critical acclaim last year.

The actress is now an in-demand star and she has already started filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII. The movie will see Rey work with Rian Johnson, who has taken over the director's chair from J.J. Abrams, for the first time. Johnson has also penned the film's screenplay.

Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Gwendoline Christie are all set to return to the second instalment.

The new Lara Croft film could hit the big screen as early as next year.
